Microsoft offers Silverlight in India

Microsoft has launched its new prod uct, Silverlight 1.0, in India to take on the ubiquitous Adobe Flash. It can be freely downloaded from the Web.

Like its rival, Silverlight is also a cross-browser, crossplatform plug-in that can be used in Windows and Mac operating systems. It also works on a variety of browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.

Microsoft claims that Silverlight will help Indian businesses offer richer web applications at lesser costs.

The company is also working with Novell to create a version of Silverlight for Linux-loaded machines. It will be called Moonlight.

Microsoft has also released a ‘product suite' for designers named Expression Studio. It can be integrated with Silverlight for creating flawless designs.
