Poverty on the Net

The United Nations has joined hands with Google and Cisco Systems Inc. to launch a website which will provide data on the global effort to end poverty by 2015. This is one of UN's Millennium Development Goals.

The website will give the latest data on poverty indices including health, education, malnutrition and employment.

Those who visit the site can also use Google Earth's map and satellite imagery to study the areas which are in the frontline of the antipoverty fight. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has called the website a crucial element in the UN's fight against poverty since it would enable policymakers and development experts to learn from other's successes and mistakes.
