AOL begins Hindi and Tamil websites

America Online has launched websites in Hindi and Tamil to attract Indian consumers.

The websites offer a host of services including instant messenger, videos, music, Bollywood and Tamil channels, music and, of course, cricket, the national obsession. They can be accessed through mobile devices for email and chat, and also contain AOL's Truveo video search engine.

The sites are part of America Online's plans to expand its presence in 30 countries including India by the end of 2008.

America Online's India portal, www.aol.in, had been launched in April.
