Monitoring malware

A new website named Mal ware Outbreak Centre details all data about the latest virus outbreaks and the antivirus tools that work against them.

The website was able to detect and list a new Trojan which escaped the eye of even top security firms such as McAfee and IBM's Proventia.

"We see it as a wakeup call to IT managers and vendors of e-mail security solutions, that there are still so many viruses out there," says Rebecca Herson, vicepresident of Commtouch which has set up the site.

The site contains crucial information on 20 viruses. It scours the Net for viruses and forwards the data to AV-Test.org which, after a crucial test, supplies information on which antivirus system can stop it.
