Yahoo, CNN to vie for crown

Yahoo, CNN and MSNBC are competing for the title of the most visited online news site.

Initial reports suggested that CNN surged ahead over rivals by clocking 33 million visitors last month. Yahoo News and the MSNBC had 31 million and 30 million visitors respectively.

However, research firm ComScore disputed this claim and said that Yahoo News is ahead with 35 million visitors a month.

According to it, CNN has only 26 million visitors and MSNBC about 27 million.

Also, the number of visitors to CNN is spread over its various sites including CNN Money, Time and Sports Illustrated, while that of Yahoo is merely for its news homepage
